Highlights
After more than 20 years of not writing much at all, I’ve written and submitted five stories, one creative nonfiction and the rest fiction. Three of the new stories have been published and the fifth was a finalist in the Okanagan Short Fiction Contest. "Mavis Brown" not only one the 2007 PRISM international short story prize: it’s been nominated for both the Western Magazine Award and The Journey Prize.
I wrote and directed my first short film in 2006. It recently placed second in the Show Us Your Beat video contest. The prize was a sweet MacBook Pro. I am stoked. I’m working on a PSA speaking out against cyberbullying now, and have a few other projects in various stages of development.
In web design, I’ve only one client at the moment. Part of my responsibility is designing the site for a new piece of astronomy software, and perhaps designing the application’s user interface.
This past February I was contacted by Vancouver Career College here in Kelowna and invited to teach the XHTML/CSS & Dreamweaver modules of their Computer Graphic Design programme. Not only am I teaching these modules now, I rewrote the XHTML/CSS module, making it a standards compliant course. Since the course’s first run I've revamped the program and improved the examples and exercises.
